Archeological & Horticultural Preserve
Kelly Place has new stewards!
"We came to camp for a night on our way home to Montana, stayed for five and completely taken by the beauty, mystery and potential of the place and her land, we sold everything we had and bought Kelly Place in January of 2021. We say "bought" while understanding we own not one bit of it. We are proud and humble stewards with a vision to create an oasis for mind and spirit amongst the ancient ruins at the foot of sacred Ute Mountain. We value honorable relations with all that surrounds, our neighbors, the near and far ancestors, the rare and valuable water that nourishes this canyon.
Under a brilliancy of stars...
Kelly Place is an archaeological preserve, horticutural center and unique retreat located in the heart of the Four Corners region. Just 10 miles west of Cortez Colorado, our lodging is nestled among the red-rock canyons and majestic Sleeping Ute Mountain. In the 1960's, George and Sue Kelly, horticulturists from the Denver area, built the current lodge and cultivated an "oasis on the edge of the desert" with orchards, gardens and courtyards among ancient Puebloan Indian ruins.
